Why am I here?

If you know me, you may be wondering why I’m doing this. I have worked in accounting since I graduated from high school in 2005 so most would assume that I am a numbers person. Only anyone who has known me for my whole life or for a really long time would know that when I was younger, I actually loved to write! I would even write short stories for fun. I know one of my most memorable ones was when I came up with a story about a popcorn kernel that traveled around the world. No idea how I came up with that one or where my imagination and creativity for that kind of thing went but it’s a true story! I cant even say these short stories were school assignments. It was something I was doing because I genuinely enjoyed it!

A few years back, I want to say about 5 years ago, my cousin suggested to me that I should start a blog. I’ll put it out there that my initial reaction was- what would I write about? Would anyone read it? I’m just a working mom and to top it off- I do taxes. No one wants to read about that! While I did not believe so, my cousin thought I had plenty to say about life as a working parent, especially since I have always found the time for fitness. At the time I was training for my first half marathon (I eventually ran a full but that experience deserves it’s own post!). Any mom will agree it’s hard to find time for ourselves! Well, for 5 years the idea has been in the back of my mind. Every now and then i’d ask around about it, or visit sites where you can set up a blog, I even wrote a first draft for a post- but I never committed.

During 2020 I saw so many people start new endeavors! Whether it was out of necessity, boredom from being quarantined or because they had time to think and reflect- so many shared on social media their new creative ideas, new small businesses, things they were doing that you could tell they loved and were passionate about- and I loved watching it all but couldn’t help but start thinking- why not me? Why can’t I tap into that creative passionate side? I’ll admit this did cause me to jump back in to my fitness side hustle because I can honestly say sharing my fitness journey and helping other’s get started on theirs is something I truly enjoy but that conversation with my cousin about the blog from years ago was still always in the back of my mind.

This past week I had a girl’s night with my book club. Serious or not, the idea of a book club blog came up where we can share reviews about books, our eats, and overall shenanigans since our book club is more than just about books! We’re all busy moms so while it’s a great idea and maybe it will come to fruition- it was also probably ambitious (although we did go as far as setting up on instagram page!)

Remember though, for the past 5 years this idea has been in the back of my mind. So when we started talking about all the things we could share about I got excited to have a reason to write and excited about putting something together to share with the world. It made me realize that I do have things to share and more importantly- if I don’t take a shot and TRY I will never know if maybe I could have a successful blog or if something positive could come out of it.

So here I am! I will be sharing about my life as a work from home mom, how I fit fitness into my life, my healthy eats and cheat meals because I do love a good restaurant, travel, and of course books I’m reading and maybe some of my favorite books from the past! I am open to ideas if anyone has suggestions.

Thanks for visiting!
